Jimmy Kimmel Selected to Host 2016 Emmy Awards
With the Golden Globe, Oscars, and Grammy awards already in the books for 2016, we now are waiting for the Emmy’s. The Emmy’s is the award show that honors the best of the best in the television industry. The people behind all of your favorite TV shows and characters will be in one place.
Just this morning, it was announced that Jimmy Kimmel will host the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards, broadcasting on ABC this year. The notorious prankster made it known to the world via his Twitter account. Jimmy will be following last years host, Andy Samberg of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
I am hosting the #Emmys on Sunday Sept 18. Until then, have a great summer.

This is Jimmy’s second time hosting. His first time hosting the Emmy’s happened in 2012. Jimmy gave a statement saying, “I am excited to be hosting the Emmy’s again. I have a feeling I’m going to be great.”
Considering the last time he served as a host for the awards, it makes a lot of sense to bring him back this year. The broadcasting right for the Emmy’s rotate each year between four major networks, ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox. During the 2012 Emmy Award show Jimmy and comedian Tracy Morgan planned a stunt that raised the Emmy’s social media presence significantly. Tracy Morgan pretended to faint on stage, but while laying down he told the audience to tweet “OMG, Tracy Morgan just passed out on stage at the Emmy’s, turn ABC on now!” The stunt immediately attracted over 25,000 tweets.
This years Emmy’s nominees will not be announce until July 14. When they are I’m sure Jimmy will have plenty of jokes for the cast and crew of each nominated show. We will have to wait until September to see what he has in store. The Emmy Awards will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
